Do you train in Martial Art to get fit, or get fit to train?

Submitted by Martial Art Info on Sunday, 2 November 2008One Comment

Fitness and Martial Art are to entities that cannot be torn apart. I have been asking myself this question when I first started Martial Art Training. Do I to get fit, or I have get myself fit before I began training in Martial Art?

Martial Art Training

Martial Art Training

Not all of us Martial Artist devoted to Martial Art been training everyday, 7 days a week, 365 days a year in our Martial Art practice. This cannot be avoided, because as much as we love Martial Art, we just don’t have the time to devote to Martial Art.

This can be said to be same for me. When I first started training in Martial Art under International Taekwondo Federations (), I was as fit as a fiddle. Training rigorously in TaeKwonDo for 2 or 3 hours after a set of strength training and rope jumping 1000 times won’t be a problem to me.

But that was yesteryears.

Nowadays, I only train once a week, or sometimes I skipped a week or two due to my hectic schedule. And I can feel that my fitness level was far from the time I started training. So I keep asking myself the question.

What do you think? Do we have to get ourself on a high fitness level before we can truly train in Martial Art, or do we have to train in Martial Art to get our fitness level up?

I would much appreciate your feedback on this, as a fellow Martial Artist.

I have experienced that if I choose to use it(Martial Art or the though of Gung fu)in and everyday Practice, A person could remain fit. To think that one needs to train to practice A Martial Art that would be almost to bring yourself down and never start one. In every Art there are specific abilities learned key ingredients that are specific to that Art. Even though you might not practice as often repeating technics in though would improve awareness of ones abilities. Improve the technic that is why MAsters are MAsters not matter what their condition they know them self well enought to deal with any scenario.

In conclusion No I dont believe the though of needing to prepare to practice but do find away to include it in everyday life. The Art that you practice will prepare you for waht it needs you to do.

Thank you and travel safely on the journey of self discovery.
